한강 밤도깨비 야시장에서 사랑에 빠진 미친남자!?!

오늘은 조니와 함께 한강 밤도깨비 야시장에 있는 멋진 푸드트럭들을 구경하러 갑니다! 다행히도 저희가 갔을 땐 날씨가 훨씬 더 따뜻해서, 한강 공원에 앉아서 맛있는 음식도 잔뜩 먹고, 해지는 것도 보면서 서울의 다른 매력을 만끽할 수 있었어요. 아직 안 가보신 분이 있다면 완전 강추!!! (그리고 영상 끝에 조니가 무슨 일을 저지르는지 끝까지 꼭 봐주세요!!채널 고정!) Today we take Johnny to experience some of the incredible and unique food trucks at the Han River Seoul Night Market!! Thankfully the weather was a lot warmer when we went, and getting such a variety of delicious food, sitting in the park and watching the sun set over the river, we got to see a very different side of Seoul. If you haven't been yet then I would definitely recommend it!! (And keep watching to see what Johnny gets himself into by the end of the video!) 홍어삼합 먹고 코 뻥 뚫린 영국신사!?

안녕하세요! 이번 주는 올리아빠랑 같이 특별한 해물요리를 먹으러 갔어요!! 한국에 도착해서 맛있는 삼겹살도 먹으러 가고 한국요리도 여러가지 드셔보셨는데 아버님께서 해산물을 엄청 좋아하신다고 조심스레 고백을 하시더라구요! 영국에서는 해물요리라고는 소금이랑 식초랑 같이 먹는 피시앤칩스 정도밖에 없어서 한국 해물 요리는 어떤지 엄청 궁금해하셨어요!!

그래서 어딜 모시고 가나 고민하다가 몇몇분이 추천해주신 곳에서 고난이도 한국음식인 연포탕과 홍어삼합에 도전하게 됐습니다. 여러분들이 아버님 괴롭히지 말라고 하셨는데 아버님이 워낙 해산물 좋아한다고 하셔가지고,,, 이왕이면 조금 특별한(?) 경험을 위해서 하드코어 해산물 요리를 준비했어요!! 과연 아버님은 어떻게 반응하셨을까요...?? ㅎㅎ


Hello! This week we take Ollie's dad to try some Korean specialty seafood dishes!! After arriving in Korea and trying a few great BBQ places, and some other yummy Korean food (let's not mention the fast food) Ollie's dad told us that he's a huge seafood fan and because it's hard to find much other than salt and vinegar covered "fish and chips" in the UK, that he would love to try some local seafood here! 

So I asked around and for the 영국 아저씨 we were recommended some truly Korean dishes - 연포탕 and 삼합. These aren't for the faint of heart, and usually foreigners can't stomach them on their first time to Korea... but Ollie's dad is a seafood enthusiast! And so I was curious to see how he would get on...!

영국인의 한복 첫인상은?!

이번 주에는 설날을 맞아 올리 아버님과 함께 한복 차려입고 경복궁에 간 영상을 준비했어요! 진정한 신사다운 올리 아빠가 왕처럼 한복을 차려입으시면 재밌을 것 같다고 생각했어요!! 실제로 역시 잘어울리시더라구요! 왕의 곁을 지킬 왕비의 역할은 누가 맡았을까요…? 여러분들도 다 아시겠죠? ㅎㅎㅎ 저도 아버님 덕분에 선비도 되어보고, 경복궁 구경도 가보고 즐거웠는데, 무엇보다 아버님이 촬영하는 내내 너무 좋아하셔서 뿌듯하더라고요! 영국신사를 한국 왕으로 만들기 도전!! 과연 어떤 모습일지 끝까지 꼭 봐주시구요! 이번 영상도 즐겁게 봐주셨으면 좋겠어요!! :)

So it turns out that Ollie's dad is a real lover of history and culture, and so this week we take him on a historical adventure to the old palace in Seoul, and of course to experience it properly we dressed up in traditional Korean Hanbok - with Ollie's Dad dressed as the King!! What will Ollie's dad think about his dress-like outfit and square belt!? Watch til the end to find out! Enjoy :) 

100첩 반상 받고 뻗으신 영국 임금님??!!

안녕하세요! 다들 설연휴 잘 보내시고 맛있는 음식 많이 드셨나요? 저희도 이번 편에서 엄청 많이 먹게 됐어요! 올리 아버님과 함께 멋진 한옥에서 제대로 된 한정식을 먹으러 갔거든요! 임금님들이 드실 법한 수라상 메뉴를 주문했는데… 정말 음식이 끝도 없이 나왔어요! 그래도 지금까지 올리 아빠께 계속 “도전 음식" 만 드리는것 처럼 보여서 걱정 했는데 이번엔 전통적인 한식을 소개 시켜드릴수 있어서 너무 좋았어요! 저도 사실 이런 한정식은 처음 먹어봤구요! 아무튼 이번 편도 재밌게 봐주셨음 좋겠어요!! :)

Continuing from last week, we headed out to a traditional hanok building to have a very authentic, traditional Korean meal. We thought we’d order a set-menu, fit for a king, as we were all appropriately dressed. We had so much amazing food it almost became an unintended challenge to finish all the dishes!! Enjoy!

한국 PC방 가서 게임을 처음 해본 영국 아버지!??

안녕하세요!! 이번에는 올리아빠랑 PC방에 갔어요!!! 제가 고등학생때 국제학교를 다니면서 만들었던 추억때문에 PC방은 저한테 매우 특별한 곳이에요. 처음으로 한국인 친구들과 문화적/언어적 장벽도 극복하고 친해질 수 있었던 계기가 같이 PC방에서 게임도 하고 어울리면서였거든요. 영국에는 이런게 아예 없어요. “인터넷카페”라고 해도 게임하는 곳이 아니라 그냥 이메일 확인하고 프린트하는 곳이거든요! 그래서 PC방은 어떻게 보면 제가 한국문화를 사랑하게 된 입덕포인트?! 였던 것 같아요. 한국 드라마나 K-Pop보다도요! PC방에 대한 다양한 의견이 있겠지만 저한테는 아주 재밌고 특별한 한국 체험을 할 수 있는 곳이라고 생각해요. 그래서 이런 걸 한번도 본 적이 없는 올리아빠께도 소개해드릴 수 있어서 정말 기뻤어요!! 

특히 아버님께서 막 게임에서 뛰어다니면서 사람들 쏘는 거 배우시고, 게임에서 상대편을 죽이고는 엄청 미안해 하시면서 죄책감에 시달리시는 귀여운(?) 모습에 진짜 빵터졌답니다!

Hello!! This week we take Ollie's dad to a Korean PC bar, and introduce him to the entire gaming and esports culture out there :) As a high schooler at an international school, PC bars have a very special place in my upbringing because they were the first place that I was able to connect with Koreans in my school, playing games together and socialising despite language and cultural barriers! We have nothing like this in the UK (our "internet cafes" are not for gaming - just emails and printing!), and so PC Bars were, for me, an entry point into falling in love with the rest of Korean culture! More than K-Dramas or K-pop! I'm sure people have lots of mixed feelings about them, but for me it is a very fun and unique part of my Korean experience and so I was happy to introduce it to Ollie's dad, who had never seen anything like it!! 

It was especially hilarious seeing him learn to run around and shoot people, and watch him work through his guilt at ruining someone else's day through killing them in-game! 

오락실에서 인형뽑기에 열받은 영국 아저씨!!?

이번 주에는 올리 아빠와 함께 한국 오락실에 가봅니다!! 여러분들도 인형뽑기하다가 마지막 순간에 인형이 집게발에서 떨어져버릴 때… 그 기분 아시죠?! 항상 젠틀하시고 온화하신 올리 아버님은 맥없이 떨어져버리는 인형들을 보며 어떤 반응을 하셨을까요?? 저도 정말 오랜만에 오락실에 가서 올리 아버님과 스티커사진도 찍고 게임도 하면서 정말 즐거운 시간을 보냈어요. 학생때는 스티커사진이 유행이어서 진짜 많이 찍었었는데, 정말 오래간만에 찍으니까 재밌더라고요! 아무튼 이번 영상도 즐겁게 봐주셨음 좋겠어요~!

In this week’s episode, we take Ollie’s dad to a Korean arcade. Find out how the gentlest gentleman we know reacts to a “rigged” claw machine and a Korean arcade sticker-photobooth! 세상에서 제일 매운 떡볶이에 도전한 영국신사?!?

이번 주에는 올리아빠와 함께 세상에서 가장 매운 떡볶이에 도전합니다!! 저흰 그냥 매운 떡볶이를 먹어보려고 갔는데 거기에 “세상에서 제일 맵고 맛있는” 떡볶이집이라고 써있더라고요! 그리고 이번엔 떡볶이부터 김밥, 어묵, 순대, 튀김까지! 분식 풀세트로 먹어봤어요! 떡볶이를 처음 드셔보시는 올리 아빠께 완전매운맛 떡볶이를 드려봤는데, 올리 말을 빌리자면 독사에 물린 것 같은 맛이었던 떡볶이였죠… 아무튼 이번 영상도 끝까지 재밌게 봐주세요!! 

This week, we try the “SPICIEST TTEOKBOKKI IN THE WORLD”!! Having brought Ollie’s dad to Korea we could not miss taking Ollie’s dad for some real Korean street food. It ended up being a spicy food challenge that tasted like ‘an antidote for a snake bite’, as Ollie put it! We tried tteokbokki, kimbap, fish cakes, korean sausages, and a traditional assortment of deep fried foods! Hope you enjoy!

한국 신조어 배우는 영국 아버지!!

이번 주는 올리 아빠가 한국 유튜버 최고기랑 에드머와 함께 한국어를 배웁니다! 한국까지 와서 “오늘은 여기까지”만 배우고 가시면 너무 억울할 거 같아서ㅎㅎㅎ 기본 인사말보다는 더 진짜 레알 한국사람같이 신조어도 배우면 재밌을 것 같았어요! 아니 근데, 아버님 너무 귀여우신 거 아니에요?ㅋㅋㅋ 아무튼 오늘도 재밌게 봐주셨음 좋겠어요!

This week Ollie’s dad learns some Korean phrases from Youtubers, Choigogi and Edmmer! We didn’t want Ollie’s dad to leave only learning the generic phrases like “Hello”, “Thank you”, or “Sorry”, so we asked them to teach him some slang words Koreans actually use these days.
